Description:
The objective of the film was to entice people to tune in through Pay-Per-View or purchase tickets to the event. The film was broadcast across numerous TV channels and disseminated through a range of social media platforms.
BACKGROUND Boxing politics – It’s when boxing elites rarely face each other so they can safeguard their titles.
However, this time, 16 of the best fighters agreed to step into the ring, risking it all, dubbing it ‘The Day of Reckoning.’ This day featured 8 big fights, as rankings witnessed significant changes, titles shifted, and long-standing scores were settled.
So to match the magnitude of the event, Riyadh Season sought an action-packed promotional video to achieve its business objectives and, establish Saudi Arabia as a premier destination for hosting world-class boxing events.
IDEA We understood our audiences are thrill-seekers, and fans of the horror genre. It was only fitting we represented The Day of Reckoning as a post-apocalyptic Zombie world.
A world where the boxers themselves have turned into the flesh-eating undead, as they punched and munched their way toward the Kingdom Arena that beckoned them. We knew an audacious idea such as this, would resonate well with our equally audacious audience.
EXECUTION We wanted the film was to be an epic and cinematic trailer that is horrifyingly entertaining.
To achieve this our production design and art direction teams worked closely together along with the VFX team to bring this post-apocalyptic world to life.
From decaying and desolate neighbourhoods, meticulously crafted sets, over-grown vegetation, collapsed structures, to cars set ablaze, no detail was spared to create an immersive and terrifying environment.
The makeup team also played an important role in dressing up the boxers with rotting flesh, empty eye sockets, decapitated heads and other gruesome effects, transforming the boxers into terrifying and decayed creatures of the night.
