Description:
The objective of the film was to entice people to tune in through Pay-Per-View or purchase tickets to the event. The film was broadcast across numerous TV channels and disseminated through a range of social media platforms.
BACKGROUND Knockout Chaos represented a significant moment in boxing, as Joshua was poised for a comeback and Ngannou transitioning from MMA.
The film needed to match the anticipation and thrill of this major fight, resonating with fans across generations of both Boxing and MMA. Departing from traditional, stereotypical fight promos, our film embraced a more cinematic approach, meticulously crafted and infused with entertaining storytelling.
IDEA As both the boxers are known for their devastating punches, impressive knockout records and bringing the chaos inside the ring, it felt like a real-life, combat sports video game.
Akin to Player 1 vs Player 2 facing off against each other for the proverbial knockout. The result - Knockout Chaos.
EXECUTION Knockout Chaos is a thrilling and innovative cinematic experience, that transports audiences through an electrifying journey across iconic global cities in the vibrant world of the 80’s.
Switching between the real world and the pixel-world of arcade combat games of that era.
To achieve these outstanding results, multiple VFX techniques, including 3D and 2D, compositing, matte painting, motion design, traditional animation, pixel art, and FX effects, were used to create the battle and the environments.
We partnered with top pixel artists, meticulously crafting each pixel of the CG doubles of the fighters throughout the film.
We also challenged the film by having a lot of the exaggerated fight scenes done in real life instead of relying on VFX. And handcrafted all the different environments to authentically reflect that era from New York, to Mexico, and Tokyo.
Regarding music, Ugly Ducklings ‘Smack’ was the music of choice, remixed in an 8-bit style to enhance the retro-gaming scenes.
