Description:
Product/campaign: Samsung, through its Technology with Purpose program, aimed to break the barriers for 100M people with speech disorders globally, leveraging technology via the Galaxy Watch.
Objective: Democratize speech therapy using everyday technologies. Create an app featuring an improved rhythm method, digital assistant, and personalized exercises to enhance speech.
Budget: Local budget project targeting the Iberian market with global impact.
Creative Idea: Impulse is a haptic speech therapy app designed for Galaxy Watch and Android devices to aid people with speech disorders through rhythm therapy. Using an AI algorithm based on Natural Language Processing, the app translates words into rhythmic vibrations, providing invisible, inaudible assistance on the wrist.
This helps synchronize the brain with the mouth, enhancing communication.
The app includes Voice Assistance, an AI Speech Coach, and Rhythm & Tone exercises, which activate neural language impulses through subconscious tempo. Impulse empowers users, giving them confidence and autonomy in any situation, regardless of language. User Interface & Navigation in H&W craft: Impulse is an innovative digital speech therapy app created from scratch for the Galaxy Watch.
Its interface, designed for the small screen, uses universally understandable icons and simplified functions. The app is inclusive and accessible, offering treatment for speech disorders through a wearable device that acts as a discreet, on-the-go therapist.
It provides an optimized user experience with intuitive gestures and vibrant colors, ensuring all-day support without draining the battery. The app's profile customization features a data-driven design tailored to individual needs.
Execution: The design process began with constructing the core functionalities and defining the user flow. An icon- and color-based interface was developed for usability, incorporating Samsung's branding guidelines into each touchpoint.
Wireframes set up the screen structure, content blocks, and interactions. A UI library with styles (colors, text), original icons, and reusable components (buttons, text boxes, navigation bars, modals) was created, leading to the final high-fidelity design in Figma after user testing. Touchpoints include: -App stores (Google Play, Samsung Store) -Communication materials: videos, prints -Landing page The scalable design ensures accessibility on mobile devices, tablets, and smartwatches. Results: Endorsements: from the "Asociación de Logopedas de España" and the “Sociedade Portuguesa de Terapia da Fala”. Rating: User rating of 4.5/5. Professional Use: Over 100 speech therapy professionals in Spain and Portugal are using Impulse.
Media Coverage: Extensive national and international media coverage after its launch in March.
Social Media: Positive response from patients and therapists on social media.
