Description:
To help healthcare professionals appreciate the full potential of their patients, we created a world first: the “Not a Lonely Journey” collection of travel guides aimed at proving that patients can experience more than merely therapeutic journeys.
Co-written with SMA patients, creative writers, scientific writers, and international travel journalists, we uncovered and cataloged exciting and accessible adventures for SMA and wheelchair travelers, from affordable activities and accommodations to tips and tricks on what to pack and how to plan their trips.
The initiative was presented for the first time to the SMA community at the 3rd International Scientific Congress that took place between 21st & 23rd October 2022 in Barcelona.
The SMA Europe congress brought together 842 researchers, healthcare specialists, and patient organizations from 66 countries. HCPs and PAG representatives were invited to learn more at the Biogen booth and were offered the opportunity to collaborate on identifying new patients.
Following the congress, a digital version of the travel guidebook was made available on the https://hcp.togetherinsma.eu/ page, addressed only to HCPs for a broader distribution to their SMA patients.
The initiative is in continuous evolution, engaging additional SMA patients worldwide.
Presence at the 3rd International Scientific Congress on Spinal Muscular Atrophy, from 21st to 23rd October 2022 in Barcelona, and 4th Scientific International Congress on Spinal Muscular Atrophy, from 14th to 16th March 2024 in Ghent, Belgium.
